FAST FORWARDING DEEP DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF GLOBAL INSURANCE AND CAPITAL

Strategic Design, Rapid Prototyping, Agile Development of Responsive Web Platform

Global insurance industry faces many challenges on the way of its digital transformation. Cross-border regulations, geopolitical risks, global rise of populism is just a short list of destabilizing factors that may become obstacles for industry. Growing need for global dialog and the creation of public-private interface are profound challenges that a group of risk managers led by Lloyd’s and RGA had to face when approaching the design of global risk management platform.

M-One Studio partnered with Lloyd’s and RGA and in collaboration with IIS and a large group of global insurers and capital managers approached a ground up design and development of a responsive web platform that would become an evolutionary step on the industry’s path to innovation. Assisting our clients with deep digital transformation we developed information architecture, and using collaborative ideation, rapid prototyping, design sprints and agile development iterations we constructed and maintained the platform while delivering new levels of innovation with every consecutive design cycle.

SPOTLIGHT

Converging and diverging multiple thought streams helped clarify the complex web of content and service interactions and set up a stage for automation and AI.

We began with collaborative ideation meetings that involved project stakeholders and sponsors, while simultaneously working with designers on low-fidelity prototypes. Converging and diverging multiple thought streams helped clarify the complex web of content and product interactions and getting immediate feedback.
After several iterations we prototyped information architecture using digital tools instead of white boards. This allowed fast forwarding architectural iterations, access system impact and deliver high-fidelity prototypes at accelerated rate.

CHALLENGE

Geopolitically distributed proprietary knowledge pools of global insurance industry became silos standing in a way of global wave of innovation that required coordination through competitive collaboration and public private interface development.

PROCESS

Strategic Design with System Impact Optimization

We started by identifying key stakeholders, formulating and addressing the underlying issue of global interoperability in the insurance industry.

Working closely with Lloyd’s leadership we defined, formed and on-boarded Core Partner Network composed of market leaders in groundbreaking ideas and innovation. The Network provided materials on major global issues for dissemination to a wide-ranging public and private base including industry, regional and global policy makers, NGOs and world-class academic institutions.

Core Partner Network Contributors:

  • Insurance Companies
  • Capital Managers
  • Regulators
  • United Nations
  • Innovation and Strategy Firms
  • Research Institutions

SOLUTION

We defined content architecture and built robust intuitive search engine that seamlessly integrated with knowledge feed UX and laid the foundation for Intelligence web app.

We coordinated multi-disciplinary design and development teams, instituted design thinking and agile principles and using iterative process and user research we developed Intelligence content layer of the global risk management platform.

NEXT STEPS

Our next steps focused on concept, UX and development of Global Insurance Stock Index as one of the core benefits of the platform.

Working closely with IIS CEO we determined the composition and algorithmic structure of the index and articulated and implemented a scope of analytics that provided one of the core member benefits shaping the service layer of the platform.

To further increase engagement and multi-sided discussions we outlined a concept of hybrid networking events that included an overlay of interconnected live and remote presentations, panels and interactions.

After the architecture was validated by the stakeholders we designed and implemented Global Insurance Forum hybrid component increasing participant engagement and facilitating the evolution of public-private interface.
